Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about daily face care routines and skincare practices.
Most skin types benefit from cleansing twice daily—once in the morning to remove overnight oils and impurities, and once in the evening to remove makeup, sunscreen, and environmental pollutants. However, people with very dry or sensitive skin may prefer a gentler morning rinse with lukewarm water and a full cleanse only at night. It's important to use a cleanser suited to your skin type to avoid over-stripping or irritating your skin barrier.
The general rule is to apply products from lightest to heaviest texture: cleanser, toner or essence, serums, moisturizer, and sunscreen (AM) or eye cream and night cream (PM). This order allows each product to absorb properly without interference. Water-based products should come before oil-based ones. Allow each layer to dry or absorb briefly before applying the next to maximize efficacy and prevent pilling or reduced absorption.
Seasonal changes affect skin, so adapting your routine can be beneficial. Winter typically requires richer moisturizers due to lower humidity and indoor heating, while summer may call for lighter, mattifying products. However, the core steps—cleanse, treat, moisturize, protect—remain consistent. Pay attention to how your skin responds and adjust individual products as needed rather than overhauling your entire routine.
Most skincare results require patience. Basic benefits like hydration can appear within days, while skin texture and tone improvements typically take 4-6 weeks of consistent use. More significant changes like reduction in fine lines or hyperpigmentation may take 8-12 weeks or longer. Consistency is key—results depend on using the routine regularly and allowing time for skin cells to renew and respond to active ingredients.
Stop using the product immediately and return to a simplified routine with gentle, familiar products. Rinse with cool water and apply a soothing moisturizer. Wait a few days before introducing any new products. If irritation persists, consult a dermatologist. To avoid sensitivity, introduce new products one at a time with a 1-2 week gap between additions, and always patch-test on a small area first, especially with active ingredients like retinol or vitamin C.
While UVB rays are mostly blocked by windows, UVA rays can penetrate glass and contribute to photoaging. If you spend extended time near windows or have a significant sun exposure routine, daily sunscreen is beneficial. For most people working indoors away from windows, sunscreen becomes crucial when spending time outdoors. Many modern moisturizers and foundations include SPF, offering convenient daily protection. Consistency matters more than occasional high-SPF products.
